As the Program Manager for the Memphis Music Initiative Works program, Iris Hollister helps to create year-round, invaluable opportunities and development for Memphis youth. Prior to her work with MMI, Iris worked as an educator for over ten years, serving both as a private strings instructor and as an elementary teacher with the Shelby County Schools system. As a cellist, Iris has traveled across the country to perform with a variety of ensembles and currently works as a freelance cellist and music instructor in the Memphis area. Iris earned her B.A. in Music from Birmingham-Southern College and a Master of Divinity from Southern Methodist University. As a Memphis native who credits her artistic, personal, and professional development to Memphis programs like MMI, Iris is ecstatic and humbled by the opportunity to work with such a transformative organization.
