We invest to build strong and effective organizations through operational grant funding and supports that foster sustainability and improve program quality. Our support aims to enhance the capacity of nonprofit organizations to implement high-quality programs and to secure funding and other resources beyond those provided by MMI, building a sustainable black arts ecosystem for Memphis youth. MMI has invested just over $1 million to nearly 20 music engagement nonprofits impacting well over 1,500 youth since its inception. Support for the Grantmaking and Capacity Building program is provided in part by the Arts Recovery and Resilience Fund with support from The Kresge Foundation, ELMA Philanthropies, the Hyde Family Foundation, LYRASIS/Performing Arts Readiness, and United Way of the Mid-South.
